1960wasayeartorememberforMountLawleyHighSchool.Inthatyearittookthefirstclassofyear11studentsthusbecomingaSeniorHighSchoolandoneofthelargestschoolsintheStatewithapopulationofover1300students.
1971wasanothersignificantyearforMountLawleySeniorHighSchool,asitwasinthatyearthatitwasdevelopedintoaSpecialLanguageSchool.
Redevelopment
Inthefifty-yearspanofMountLawleySeniorHighSchooltherehavebeenmanychangesineducation,buildingsandpersonalities.ThelatestmajorchangeistherebuildingoftheSchoolwhichwasannouncedbytheMinisterforEducationinNovember2001.
Asignificantlydifferentyears8-12campuswillbeprovidedontheexistingschoolsite.Thedesignandorganisationofthefacilitiesonthenewcampusprovidesexcitingopportunitiestocreatemoreflexibleandinnovativelearningenvironmentstomeettheeducationalneedsofallstudents.
During2004thefaceofMountLawleySeniorHighSchoolchangeddramatically.TheMiddleSchoolBuildingswerecompleted,occupiedbyYear8and9studentsandofficiallyopenedbytheMinisterforEducation,MrAlanCarpenteronNovember10,2004.TheMiddleSchoolfacilitiesandeducationalprogramswereacknowledgedasthewayforwardforgovernmentschools.
Alsoduring2004theTricycleTheatreandtheSportandFitnessCentre(ajointfacilitywithEdithCowanUniversity)werecompleted.
Atthebeginningof2005,Science,VisualArts,FoodTechnology,TextilesandHumanDevelopmentrelocatedtothenewspecialistfacilitiesbuilding.
Atthebeginningof2006thenewSeniorSchool,Cafeteria,LibraryandStudentServicesfacilitieswerecompleted.Groundworksandlandscaping,includingnewturfontheovals,wasalsocompleted.
MountLawleySeniorHighSchool,oneofthepremierpublicschoolsinWesternAustralia.Foundedin1955,MountLawleySHShasserveditscommunitythroughtheprovisionofhighqualityprogramsovermanyyearsandboastsanimpressivealumni.
MountLawleySHSisaschoolthatvaluesAchievement,Excellence,Tolerance,Respect,PerseveranceandLearning.ItoffersarangeofprogramsincludingGiftedandTalentedLanguagesandtheSpecialistVisualandPerformingArtscourse.Thesearepopularandentryiscompetitive.TheschoolhasacademicextensionclassesinYear8-10andoffersupper-schoolstudentsawiderangeofsubjects.ItistheonlyschoolinWAtooffertheCertificateIVinMusicinpartnershipwiththeWAAcademyofPerformingArts.
