  TheSchoolmaintainsstronglinkswiththeClanCampbellofScotland. BoththesuburbandtheschooltaketheirnamefromRobertCampbellwhosettledtheareaintheearly1820s. TheCampbellheritagecoloursofblue,green,whiteandyellowarereflectedintheuniform,colourcodeandindividualhousecolours. ThefourhousesarenamedafterprominentAustralianswithsignificanteducationlinks-Daley,Dickson,LindandStephens.

  Four10-weekunitscoveringTheArtsandTechnology

  StudentscanalsoelecttojointheSchoolBandprogramthatoperatesasatimetabledclassinconjunctionwiththeArts/Technologyrotation.

  AsenrolmentsdrawfromacrosstheACTandNSW,arangeofdiagnosticassessmentsinliteracyandnumeracyareusedatthestartoftheyeartoensureteachershaveacomprehensiveunderstandingofeachstudent’sstrengthsandneedsintheseareas. Year7studentsareplacedintodifferentclassgroupingsfortheirvariouscourses.StudentswhoareidentifiedasneedingadditionalsupportinliteracyandnumeracyhavetheopportunitytoparticipateinCampbellHighSchool’sExcelprogramwhichoperatesacrossEnglish,Mathematics,ScienceandSoSE.

  InthecoresubjectsofEnglish,Mathematics,ScienceandSoSE,classesarestructuredtoprovideopportunitiesforstudentstobeextendedandinMathematicsanextensionclassisoffered.Students'progressismonitoredthroughouttheyearandadjustmentstoplacementsaremadewhennecessary.

  Greatcareistakentoplacestudentswithfriendsfromprimaryschoolintocontactgroupswhicharebasedontheschool'sfourhouses:Daley,Dickson,LindandStephens.

  Additionalteachersupportisprovidedforthosestudentswhorequireassistance.

  PersonalDevelopment,HealthandPhysicalEducationclassesmaybegroupedasco-educationalorsinglesexandanadvancedclassisformedtoextendstudentswhodemonstrategreaterpotentialinthisarea.

  Theyear8programaddresseslearningineachofthefollowingareas:

  Fullyearcourses

  English,Mathematics,SoSE,Science,PersonalDevelopment,HealthandPhysicalEducation,Languages (Itiscompulsoryforstudentsinyears3-8inACTgovernmentschoolstostudyasecondlanguage).

  Semesterelectives

  Oneelectiveunitisstudiedeachsemester,withstudentsselectingoneArtsunitandoneTechnologyunit.Theunitsofferedtoyear8studentsinclude:

  Art,FoodStudies,IndustrialDesign,Drama,TextilesandDesign,GraphicCommunication,Music,WoodTechnology,MetalTechnology,Band

  AnadvancedPEgroupisestablishedduringsemester1.

  Years9and10

  Asstudentsprogressintheirlearninginyears9and10,opportunitiesareprovidedtopursueinterestsandspecialisation.However,theyear9and10programstillguaranteescontinuingprogramsoflearninginthefollowingcoreareas:

  English,SoSE(StudiesofSocietyandEnvironment),Mathematics,PersonalDevelopment,HealthandPhysicalEducation,Science

  StudentsarealsorequiredtostudyatleastoneunitoftechnologyandoneunitfromTheArtsoverthetwoyears.Awiderangeofelectiveunitsareofferedin:

  TheArts,Design&Technology,InformationTechnology,Languages-FrenchorJapanese,SoSE,PersonalDevelopment,HealthandPE.

  TherearenominimumrequirementsinLanguages. Inmostelectiveunitstherearecombinedyear9/10classes.Theexpertiseofstaffdetermineswhichunitswillbeoffered.Studentdemanddetermineswhichclasseswillactuallyrun,asclasssizesmustbesufficienttoensureviability.

  Adetailedhandbookdescribingtheyear9/10electivesisprovidedtostudentsduringterm3 toassisttheminmakingtheirelectivechoicesforthefollowingyear.
